Realization Letter

Directions: Write a letter to someone you know. Persuade him/her to realize something. There is one stipulation: write in a kind tone. This is easier said than done.

Here’s a blueprint for your draft:

  1. Open on a lighter note.
  2. Use sensory language to help the reader relive a specific situation.
  3. Demonstrate an understanding of his/her side of things.
  4. Explicitly state the realization you’re after. Explain why this realization is so important. What’s in it for the reader? What’s in it for you?
  5. End on a positive and encouraging note.
  6. Tips: Avoid absolutes like “always” and “never.” Avoid overusing “you.”
